About Navtej Kohli's Student Life
Navtej Kohli was born at New Delhi, India on 1 Jan 1962. Since his early childhood Navtej had a strange affinity for exploring mechanisms of almost everything around him. He was a zealous learner. His passion for detailing the invisible threads of mechanism landed him in IIT Delhi. While his primary interest was mechanics, but he found Electrical so rich and engrossing that he eventually ended up graduating in Electrical engineering.
Navtej Kohli speaks about his student life at IIT Delhi…
“Soon after I turned 17, I landed up at IIT Delhi. It was this place from where I actually embarked upon my journey to success. Though, I was brought up in Delhi but Life at IIT came as a pleasant shock to me. For the first few days, I didn’t know what to expect. Ragging was fun, but sometimes it really used to get on my nerves. Entire July went in dancing to the tunes of those hardnosed seniors.
Hardly had we got any respite from this month long grinding ragging session, waiting next in line, to churn the hell out of us, were prying vivas and quizzes. Everyone used to abhor them and I was no exception. The horror of grades and examinations turned into a phobia, which has remained to this day deep in my psyche.
However, it was just the initial phase. Soon, I started liking everything at IIT. This place gave me my identity and a vision to move ahead. Keeping the negatives to one side, life at IIT was like a ‘dream come true’ for me.”
