Given the rapidly diminishing levels of traditional fossil fuels worldwide, mankind is actively seeking alternative energy sources, assessing its viability, and how well it can substitute for depleting non-renewable sources of energy.
When it comes to finding and harnessing alternative energies, the criteria are simple: abundance, cleanliness, and cost-effectivity. Which is why solar energy and wind energy have, up until now, been lavished with the largest amounts of research and investment in this field.
Solar power – A Viable Energy Source For The Future?
Solar power is probably the most effective and available energy homeowners can use to help ‘do their bit’ for the renewable energy cause.
The way it works is simple…
1. One way of harnessing solar energy is through the use of Photovoltaic tiles. Contrary to popular belief, they are quick and easy to instal, are not space-intensive, and are also aesthetically pleasing.
2. Solar panels are geenrally accepted as the easiest and best way to ensure the long-term protection of the environment, whilst the solar energy they create can be used for a multitude of tasks including the provision of heat and electricity.
3. The increasing cost-effectiveness, ease of use and positive energy benefits provided by both solar and wind energies, means more and more people are finding them a viable and value for money alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
4. Given the decline in coal mining (due to fewer reserves - which takes millions of years to be created in Nature) and spiralling extraction costs (not to mention the cost to the environment created by this extraction), there's a pressing imperative for a transfer from traditional fossil fuels to alternative energy sources, before fossil fuels run out altogther and plunge humanity to an Energy Crisis of biblical proportions.
5. All the more reason, therefore, to drive forward with the research, development and implementation of alternative energy sources as soon as is humanyly possible...
Even if we were to find a sustainable amount of fossil fuels it still has diverse effects on the world we live in. Not least due to the fact that the burning of fossil fuels has been proven to be directly responsible for global warming, which scientists believe will eventually kill all vegetation on this planet.
However, there are new technologies being developed that enable us to remove 99% of the side effects associated with burning fossil fuels and safely turning them into power. Regrettably, this simply isn’t an option.
The fact remains: whether or not we produce energy safely using fossil fuels, it simply isn’t going to be an option for much longer. Future generations can’t afford the luxury of debating this issue, because without research now it is highly probable that the world will run out of fossil fuels long before we come up with a workable alternative.
That’s the bad news. The good news is there are several viable energy alternatives, the foremost of which is what is known as Biomass Energy…Also read
